Jack Black Cancels his Australian Tour over Controversial Remark on Stage


Jack Black announced on social media that Tenacious D is canceling their current tour following backlash against bandmate Kyle Gass. The controversy arose from a comment Gass made during their concert in Australia on July 14. While celebrating his 64th birthday on stage, Black presented Gass with a cake and asked him to make a wish. Gass responded with the controversial remark, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”


Black said he was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday and that he would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.


The Comment made by Gass was so inflammatory that Australian Federal Senator, Senator Ralph Babet issued the following statement:

"Tenacious D should be immediately removed from the country after wishing for the assassination of Donald Trump at their sydney concert"

An attempted assassination of former President Trump occurred the day before his comments, when A 20-year-old, who has spent nearly half his life hearing Trump compared to Hitler, hearing from media heads that Trump was an existential threat to democracy, climbed onto a rooftop and shot at Trump,
