In a one-hour press conference this morning President Trump announced that "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead".
As U.S. forces closed in on him, Trump said al-Baghdadi fled into a “dead-end” tunnel with three of his children and detonated a suicide vest. “He was a sick and depraved man, and now he’s gone,” Trump said. “He died like a dog, he died like a coward.”
President Trump went on to thank the countries of Syria, Iraq, and Russia for their cooperation in this joint operation.
The president gave a description of how Baghdadi ran through the tunnel crying and whimpering, not like the terrorist leader he was. When cornered, he detonated a suicide vest that killed himself and three of his children. Collapsing the tunnel he was running through. No Americans were injured in this operation.
Late Saturday, President Trump put a teaser out on Twitter claiming "Something very big has just happened!"
